Today, we went to Teotihuacan. We had to be at the Universidad at 8 for our bus there...It was about a 2h our bus ride. When we got there, they gave us an idea of how important the cactus is to the people. They use them for water, for making clothing and blankets (With the fibers) and also plastic from the layers. It was actually kind of cool cause I have never known that.
After that we shopped around and then left for the Pyramides. We had an awesome tour guide named Enrique (Pictures in my album) The Pyramids were built by the Aztecs a long time ago..Dont remember how long...But we got to see the city and pyramids that they had built. The two large ones that we climbed were temples. THe first we climbed I am not sure of the name. The largest: Temple of the Sun, and the other (We did not climb) :Temple of the Moon. There were lots of vendors there to sell us things such as the calendar of the Aztecs or pretty trinkets. On the way home we went through Mexico city. It was a real eye opener to see the different classes of housing and the way that the people live. Some parts of the city were really nice (But as in Mexico contained trash or were not clean) And there were houses of bricks with tarps for a ceiling, blankets, or tin that was held down by cinder blocks. Some had no roof at all. Almost all of the houses didnt have windows but bars in the areas for windows. We got home at about 7 and crashed for our first day of school!
After we got home, Charissa and I were sooo tired that we laughed histerically for a couple of hours! Those pyramids took it out of us!
